I am Dr. ASHISH KHANIJO and I have been working in the field of Cardio-vascular and Thoracic (Chest ) surgery since 1996, initially, as a resident and since 2007, as a consultant . I have worked with senior surgeons from Pune and Mumbai and gained enough experience in the subject . My range of surgical work includes congenital heart and lung defects , adult cardiac, vascular and thoracic diseases/disorders . The list of operations also include coronary bypass surgery, valve related operations , operations for the major blood vessels (Aorta and the Vena-cava), operations for the lungs , aneurysms and the diseases of the chest.
besides this, I have been doing angiography, supervised angioplasty, and per-cutaneous procedures like the pacemakers and Endovascular procedures .
i also have the experience of dealing with the patients requiring ECMO(Extra corporeal Membrane Oxygenation ), both, for cardiac and non cardiac systemic illnesses .
I have been doing heart transplantations too. Since March 2017 I have done thirty heart transplants and have been a part of the team doing LVADs ( Ventricular Assist Devices ).
I have been participating in local, regional, national and international updates/seminars/conferences on a regular basis.
i am a fellow/member of the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic surgeons .
